Ajdin Fetahagic a man on a mission

Heidelberg United defender Ajdin Fetahagic will return to the squad for the senior men’s Round 3 NPL Victoria clash with Bentleigh Greens.

Having served his one game suspension for receiving a red card in opening round, the centre-back is now available for selection.

Bentleigh Greens are searching for their first three points of the season, going down to Avondale FC and South Melbourne FC in their opening fixtures – ensuring there’s plenty at stake.

“I’m raring to come back into the squad for the game against Bentleigh,” Fetahagic said, when asked about his return.

“Both teams are going into the game with everything to prove, so it will be a great test for us.”

The ‘Bergers are coming into the upcoming clash with Bentleigh off the back of consecutive losses against South Melbourne FC and Dandenong Thunder. The Warriors will be hunting those first three points of the season.

“The boys are disappointed after our weekend loss but we’ll move on from it because we know the quality we possess and we’ll recoup and learn from our mistakes,” Fetahagic said.

On expectations for the upcoming contest, Fetahagic spoke about having a point to prove against Bentleigh. Not only is it considering their two recent losses, but also because Heidelberg consider the Greens to be “big rivals”, with there being a lot of “history between them.”

Dating back to the Warrior’s golden era between 2017-2019, it has always been Heidelberg and Bentleigh that find themselves at the top come the pointy end of a season.

The most recent meeting between the two clubs saw Bentleigh come away with a 3-0 win over Heidelberg, last year in July.

“The team that wants it more will come out on top. I expect nothing less than three points from our boys,” Fetahagic said.

Heidelberg United faces the Bentleigh Greens on Friday, March 4. The game kicks off at 8:30pm and will be played at Bentleigh’s home ground of Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
