An in-form Calder United recorded a 5-0 win over Heidelberg United at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon.
Spearheaded by a Melinda J Barbieri hat trick and brace from skipper Aleksandra Sinclair, the home side proved too strong for the Bergers.
Sinclair put her stamp on the game in the first half, giving her side a 2-0 advantage by half time. Barbieri then stole the show with all her goals coming after the break, asserting Calder’s dominance throughout the match.
The current NPL-W champions and ladder leaders have justified their credentials at the top, now boasting the most goals by any NPLW side this season. When you couple that with having the second best defence, it was always going to be a tough day for the young Bergers outfit, who to their credit, kept plugging away at the task all afternoon.
Heidelberg will look to bounce back when they face Bayside United at Olympic Village on Saturday May 8 at 3:00pm.
