Helen Tyrikos Back To Take Charge of Women’s Football

Heidelberg United FC is pleased to announce the return of Helen Tyrikos as Head of Women’s Football. Helen was the first female General Manager of an NPL Club in Australia, a position she held at Heidelberg United FC from 2014 until 2017, when she left to take up a role at Football Victoria. Once there, Helen spent time in the Competitions Team before working as Program Development Manager – Women & Girls, where she developed programs and curriculum that enabled the participation of women in girls across all areas of the game including players, coaches, referees, administrators and board members. She is well known in the football community and wider sport community as an advocate of women in sport.

Her recent experience working closely with Government Agencies, FFA, NPLW Clubs, NTC and National Team Staff will add to the value she will bring to our program. Her connections as a leader of Women’s Football will also be a tremendous asset to the club.

Helen currently works at the State Government Department of Sport and Recreation Victoria in the Diversity and Inclusion Team.

“I look forward to working with Heidelberg United’s NPL-W program. I have learned a great deal during my time away and look forward to working with Heidelberg again – creating a great environment for women and girls to be the best they can be on and off the park. This will start with seeking feedback from the existing program members and the committee, and then getting a great team of volunteers, coaches and staff together. I am open to anyone contacting me through the club that wants to participate in creating some real change here.”
