In further signs of a changing of the guard, Heidelberg United FC has seen the last of the remaining back four of its recent successful era depart the club.
Josh Wilkins, the bullocking right back, who loved nothing more than pushing forward on a trademark marauding run down the flank, has called time on his playing days at the ‘Bergers after six seasons at the club.
Signed from his home town of Perth, Wilkins was part of a vaunted back four that included Pace, Byles, Doumbalis and sometimes Way – a group that was the bedrock of Heidelberg netting seven trophies over his first four seasons at the club, with the pandemic curtailing the last two seasons.
Wilkins will ply his trade at Port Melbourne in the 2022 NPL season. All the Heidelberg United FC family thanks Josh for his wonderful contribution to the team and club over the past six seasons, and extends its best wishes to him in his future endeavours on and off the pitch.
Will always be part of the Heidelberg United Family.
Warriors for life!!
