Kaine Sheppard raring to go on club return

Kaine Sheppard

A familiar name has made his way back to Olympic Park, with Kaine Sheppard a confirmed inclusion to the Heidelberg United senior men’s squad for season 2022.

The English-born forward makes a comeback to NPL Victoria following his opportunity in the A-League Men’s competition, where he was on the roster of Newcastle Jets in 2018-2020, followed by Western United in the 2020-21 campaign.

His departure from Australia’s top flight sees him come to where it all began in Australia – more specifically Victoria – linking up with head coach George Katsakis once again.

In between securing his first ‘Bergers stint and move to the A-League, Sheppard also spent two years at Avondale FC for seasons 2017 and 2018.

Sheppard brings technical nous in the centre-forward role, enabling the ‘Bergers to solidify their attacking options in the front line.

He’s been a regular pre-season contributor, firming to be on the team sheet for the Warriors heading into opening round against South Melbourne on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

“I’m looking forward to being back with a pretty fresh group of players and excited to get stuck into the season on Thursday,” he said.
