George Katsakis has committed to remain as head coach for the Heidelberg United men’s National Premier League team in season 2022.
Much loved and respected at Catalina Street, Katsakis will take the lead role once again that has provided so much joy to everyone involved with the Bergers, overseeing the golden era of silverware between 2017-2019.
It has not been ideal during the last two campaigns – with COVID-19 putting a halt to proceedings in 2020 and 2021 – but Katsakis will be looking forward to what will hopefully be an uninterrupted new season, aiming to build on foundations for what was a rebuilding squad that prematurely finished sixth in the table last season.
“After two years of stop-start competition, we’re looking forward to a full season coming up,” he said.
“We’ve brought in some new faces, and they’ve adjusted to be well-drilled for what the league is about.
“We need to be patient moving forward, as the quality that we have is definitely able to bring us some further success.”
