NPLM Preview & Analysis: Hume City vs Heidelberg

Heidelberg United travel to Hume City for Round 9 of NPL Victoria senior men’s on Saturday night, vying for a win to get their season on track.

With the home side rock bottom of the league, and the ‘Bergers not too far off above them, this game is shaping up to be an exciting match-up. The Warriors are eager to get the ball rolling in this one.

Hume City have recently announced a new appointment for the head coach of the club, Petr Tichy, has been part of the senior coaching set up for many years at the club, and will be ambitious to impress on his debut on the sidelines.

The club have secured the signing of goalkeeper Alexander Rutter, after spending four years in the Swansea City academy set up, an exciting addition in between the sticks for Hume. Another addition to the City squad is the signing of Brandon Lauton, a promising midfielder who spent over four years at Melbourne Victory will make his mark in the league.

After playing his youth football at the club, midfielder Ali Targut returns to City, who had gone on to do the hard yards in terms of development and will be one to watch out for. City have re-signed no less than 13 players to the squad including the likes of Josh Bingham, Mathew Lazarides and Lucas Trenkovski.

The Warriors will need to take their chances to steal the three points against a side that is winless, to slowly start climbing up the ladder as the season approaches its half way mark.

The only head-to-head result between these two clubs in 2021 was a 1-0 win for Hume City at ABD Stadium (Round 12).
