Old rivals in battle for top six spot

by John Fotinos

With the business end of the NPL season fast approaching, it’s on old fashion rivalry that will wrap up Round 18 at the Olympic Village this Sunday. Heidelberg United will host the Melbourne Knights with both clubs all too aware that all three points are a must if they entertain any hopes of finals football in 2022.

The Warriors could end up in the top six with a victory in this match, whereas the visitors need a win to just about keep in touch.

Heidelberg United coach George Katsakis will be hoping his charges can continue their recent run of good form, which has seen the Warriors defeat the top two sides. With several players starting to find form of late, the Warriors will go in quietly confident of overcoming a somewhat inconsistent Knights outfit.

The ’Bergers have had the edge in meetings between the sides during the NPL era, including the Round 5 clash at Knights Stadium earlier this season. With Sean Ellis netting twice, Zahra and Sheppard completed an emphatic 4-0 away win to kickstart what was till that point a sluggish beginning to the 2022 campaign.

With so much at stake in this match, expect a very competitive match between two sides with all to play for. Kick off is at 3:00pm this Sunday (June 19) at the Olympic Village.

HUFC TV will stream the match live via its Facebook site and from the link available at www.hufc.com.au
