After six successful seasons packed with numerous highlights, goalkeeper Chris Theodoridis is departing Heidelberg United.
Theodoridis the unflappable custodian, was part of arguably one of the club’s finest eras, leaves a legacy as an integral member of a team that triumphed as three-time Premier’s Plate winner (2017, 2018, 2019), Community Shield winner (2018), Dockerty Cup Champion (2017), along with the 2018 NPL Victorian Grand Final win and as 2017 NPL National Championship winner.
He made his Heidelberg United debut in 2016, Theodoridis showed himself to be a wonderful shot stopper, with his off-beat mind games proving decisive in the penalty shootout against Bentleigh Greens in the 2017 Dockerty Cup Final. His antics were crucial in securing the ‘Bergers maiden win in the competition. He also was instrumental in the FFA Cup win over Sydney United in another penalty shootout – propelling his team to the Quarter Final stage of the National competition.
Proving his versatility, Theodoridis became an unlikely goal scorer for the club during its successful 2018 NPL season, converting four penalties in a run of matches where he seemed to hold his nerve better than most.
The entire Heidelberg United FC family congratulates and heartily thanks Chris for six marvellous seasons of contribution to a magnificent team. Best of luck in the next chapter of your playing career and beyond.
Will always be part of the Heidelberg United family.
