TRAINING CANCELLED TILL FURTHER NOTICE

As you may be aware, the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) has advised against travel to and from the local government areas of Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin last night and this has been further supported by Australia’s top medical officials including the National Chief Medical Officer, Brendan Murphy.

As most of our players and coaches reside in the cities of Hume, Moreland and Darebin, the Club is cancelling training tonight until further direction is given by the City of Banyule, Football Victoria and the Department of Health and Human Services.  In the press conference today the Victorian Chief Medical Officer stated that they would be drilling down the hotpots to suburbs so that whole Local Government Areas were not impacted and the Council’s Health Officers would be giving direction around sport, child care and other health services in the area at some stage this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Another matter the Club is aware of is the teacher that has tested positive for Coronavirus at St Monica’s in Epping.  Fourteen players at Heidelberg United are students at St Monica’s and the Club is keeping an eye on this situation also.

The next three weeks are going to be difficult with cases expected to rise and we will be making decisions daily about training and ask that you are patient with us as we make decisions that are in the best interest of the health and safety of our players, staff and volunteers.

Apologies specifically to the MiniRoos program participants that we were looking forward to welcoming back tonight.

We will be communicating with you all again tomorrow with a status update.
