Heidelberg United Kicking New Goals!

by Adam Palombi

Heidelberg United have continued to assert their pedigree throughout the clubs latest endeavour.

The Bergers have established a presence within the indoor circuit, having deployed a Women’s futsal team.  Participating within Australia’s premiere futsal competition, Series Futsal.

The side were victorious in their maiden contest, winning 5-2.

The Peoples Club are the first semi-professional Victorian club to implement its representation upon the indoor court. Series Futsal have established themselves as one of Australia’s most highly regarded Futsal competitions, hosting some of the globe’s greatest futsal players since the organisation’s inception in 2006. Following in the footsteps of A-League outfit Western United, who have boasted indoor representation in both Women’s and Men’s competitions since the beginning of 2024.  Club president Steve Tsalakidis discussed his thoughts upon the club taking the football onto the court.  “Two former players approached us with the proposition of venturing into futsal”

“Its a great way for players to keep active within the offseason, while remaining technically sharp”.

“We started with the women’s but eventually we are looking for expansion”.

“We seek to expand upon the success of the women’s side in the future, we greatly appreciate how well operated Series Futsal are, which made the expansion a no-brainer”.

We wish our newly founded Women’s side the best of luck within the upcoming second round of the 2024/2 season, on Wednesday night in Thomastown.
